Why Is That Lawn Blue?

Have you ever wondered why you occasionally see blue or blue/green bermuda grass lawns in the late winter or spring? More than likely the lawn had just recently received a weed control application.
The blue/green color comes from a dye that is used by some companies in their liquid applications. The turf dye serves as a marker allowing the applicator to see what has and has not been sprayed and gives the property owner confidence that indeed, something was sprayed. But when you take a closer look you can see that the turf dye does not guarantee an evenly distributed, neat and thorough application. Sometimes it can result in an all-out mess!
