Clearing Up the Confusion: Why AgriLawn Skips the Blue/Green Spray for Weed Control
Warmer temperatures and melting precipitation have definitely caused winter weeds to begin sprouting all throughout the lawns here in Oklahoma. It’s also the time of the year where you begin to see lawns that have been sprayed with a blue/green liquid. While this spray is meant to be beneficial in killing/preventing weeds from growing, the colored marking dye provides zero benefit to the lawn itself. AgriLawn chooses not to put the marking dye into our mixes for several reasons, and the first reason for that is the cost. We would much rather spend the money on higher quality products that eliminate and prevent weeds for our customers. Secondly, the dye tends to be messy for both the customer and for us the applicators. Marker dye can stain concrete, fences, and puppy paws and on the applicator side of things it can clog up the machinery we use to efficiently apply the product. While the marker dye does provide an instant visual confirmation that your lawn has been sprayed, the real confirmation of a successful treatment comes from seeing the weeds discolor and wilt. In addition to all of this, the marker dye is does not guarantee that your application was even done correctly!
In this case, you can clearly tell the area was sprayed, but look at the inconsistency. Some parts sprayed heavily, some sprayed lightly and some areas that were completely missed! All of our technicians are fully licensed with the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture as licensed applicators or spray technicians, and every technician spends at least 6 weeks training with a licensed applicator before we release them to treat on their own. This training ensures that a thorough application of product will be applied to your lawn without the need for marker dye. Our results speak for themselves, let us show you how by choosing AgriLawn today!
